Working as a poll worker/election officer during the elections for the parliament, regional and municipal councils 2026

On September 13, there will be general elections in Sweden. Now you have the opportunity to express your interest in working as a poll worker in Upplands-Bro municipality.

Working as a poll worker means that you contribute to ensuring that the election is conducted correctly, safely, and securely. Therefore, we are looking for individuals who have good administrative skills, enjoy meeting and helping people, are meticulous and efficient, and are over 18 years old.

In preparation for the elections for the parliament, regional and municipal councils in 2026, Upplands-Bro municipality is recruiting for several roles:

- Chairperson in the electoral district

- Vice-chairperson in the electoral district

- Election officer in the electoral district

- Team leader for early voting

- Election officer for early voting

- Election night officer

- Vote counter

You do not need to reside in the municipality to serve during the election, but you must complete the mandatory training sessions included in the preparations for the various roles during the election. The training consists of digital components and in-person sessions, with in-person training primarily taking place in May.

Compensation:

When you work as an election officer, you will receive a taxable fee. Being a poll worker is a position of trust and not an employment. A fee is also paid for participating in the training, but the fee for training sessions is only granted if you fulfill your service. Payments will be made in October 2026.

Are you politically active?

If you are politically active and running on a list or if you are associated with one of the eligible parties, unfortunately, you are not eligible to work as a poll worker.

Recruitment process:

When you submit your application, the election office will process it. We will get back to you with more information about potential service or for supplementary questions as soon as possible. Recruitment is ongoing in several stages and will continue until all positions are filled.

The election board is responsible for ensuring that the processing of submitted personal data is in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The need for the election board to process personal data about individuals who have submitted an expression of interest is crucial for performing election administrative tasks in planning and conducting elections. By registering your expression of interest, you consent to the processing of your personal data.
